Experience changes how you make decisions
After more than 25 years practising cosmetic medicine, I make decisions differently than I did earlier in my career.
One of the advantages of time is seeing patterns. You see which treatments hold up, develop a deeper understanding of complications and recognise where the limits of treatment are. Technical skill is only part of good cosmetic medicine. Patient selection, facial assessment and judgement matter just as much.
Experience also teaches you a lot about people. Who cares for our patients has always mattered deeply to me. Integrity is the quality I value most in the people I work with.
We think about treatment over time. Faces age, priorities change and treatments evolve. Knowing when to treat, when not to treat and when to refer is part of good care.
Experience also brings efficiency. Recognising what will make a meaningful difference, what is unlikely to help and what should be left alone or referred can lead to better outcomes with less treatment.
After more than 25 years, I recognise patterns earlier, make decisions faster and have much less tolerance for unnecessary complexity. That experience informs how we practise at The Manse.
Warmly,
Dr Naomi
