FAQs

What is PRP?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a popular and natural injectable treatment at our Sydney clinic which uses your body’s own cells from your blood for rejuvenation, healthy skin maintenance, and to delay ageing.

PRP treatment  promotes rapid tissue regeneration and it has been used in dermal aesthetics, sports medicines, and dentistry in wound healing.

Describe the Process of PRP

A sample of venous blood is taken from the patient’s forearm. The sample is then placed in a centrifuge. The centrifugation process is used to remove the red blood cells, which leaves the “liquid gold” or PRP which contains the higher concentrations of growth factors.

The injector collects the PRP immediately and transfers it to a needle or a number of needles and then reinjects it into the areas where the patient would like rejuvenation.

We are injecting the PRP with “mesotherapy “ technique, over the entire face. Injecting small spots into dermis and subcutaneous tissue.

HOW DOES PRP WORK?

The growth factors in the plasma stimulates stem cells leading to acceleration in soft tissue healing and regeneration.

Platelets release autologous fundamental  growth factors which stimulate collagen and matrix production, and angiogenesis.

Is PRP a safe procedure?

Like all medical procedures, there are risks associated. The most common risks are bruising at the injection sites and swelling. Because your own plasma is used, the procedure in general has a lower side effect profile than dermal fillers.

Is there downtime associated with PRP?

When eyes are treated, the area is quite swollen for a couple of days, so downtime is required.

Bruising may last about 1 week.

What procedures can be combined with PRP?

There are multiple procedures that can be combined with PRP, including the following:

  • Laser (fractional laser is the classic treatment which is combined with PRP)
