Threadlift aftercare

Congratulations on choosing to have a threadlift. Here is some information that will help you through the procedure.

Pre-Procedural Instructions

  1. Do not drink alcohol for at least 2 days before your procedure – Minimise bruising risk
  2. Do not schedule any other facial procedures/treatments in the 3 weeks after the procedure. Please inform the practitioner of any such scheduled procedures and he/she will advise you accordingly.
  3. If you are taking any medically prescribed medication, let the practitioner know immediately as this medication may need to be changed in advance of the procedure.
  4. If you are taking any ‘blood thinning’ medications, please let the practitioner know, as they may represent a contra-indication to the treatment.
  5. Do not take Aspirin, Ibuprofen or any other anti-inflammatory medications for one week prior to, and after your procedure. This includes unscheduled medications such as St John’s Wort, Gingko Biloba, Omega supplements, Vitamin B or Vitamin E and any multivitamins that contain these vitamins or supplements. These will ‘thin the blood’ and cause increased bleeding during the procedure. If you have been prescribed blood thinning agents due to medical reasons please consult with your doctor prior to ceasing.

The Day of the Procedure

  1. Please do not wear any make-up, facial perfume or after-shave.
  2. If you have any signs of a skin infection in the area to be treated, we may have to reschedule the procedure to prevent any complications that may occur. Inform and discuss this with the practitioner.
  3. Expect to be with us for between 60-90 minutes, depending on the extent of your treatment.

Post-Procedural Instructions (Long Threads)

  1. Following your procedure the doctor will clean and tape your skin in a suspended position. You will be required to maintain this taped position for a minimum of 2 days following the procedure
  2. You will be prescribed an antibiotic to be taken 3 x a day for 7 days. This is just precautionary in order to reduce your chance of suffering from an infection.
  3. After the treatment, you may experience some soreness and pain over the treated areas. Over the counter analgesic medication such as Paracetamol can be taken in case of discomfort. Do not take anti-inflammatory medications such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Voltaren, etc. for the first 7 days.
  4. Mild swelling and bruising can occasionally occur and may be noticeable for a few days.
  5. The treated area may be tender to touch. You might feel the suture underneath the skin as a result of the area being swollen/inflamed. This is normal and will improve over the first week and should be gone after 3-4 weeks.
  6. Should you experience severe pain or swelling in the treated area/s, contact us immediately.
  7. Expect 10-14 days for the skin to fully recover its natural aspect. However, you can resume most normal activities within 2-4 days.
