The PDO threadlift arrived in Australia in 2018. Several of our doctors travelled to Korea to train in this hugely popular treatment. Multiple team members have completed IFAAS training in short threadlifting.

Our clinic has been offering a variety of threadlifts for many years, and it has been great to add short threadlifting to our tool kit since 2018.

This Korean cosmetic trend is a whole new approach to the treatment of ageing. It creates  a very natural result, and is perfect for those who don’t want dermal fillers or knives/cutting.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is a PDO threadlift? Please explain the process?

The PDO threadlift consists of introducing multiple very gentle threads in an area with 2 actions in mind: a nice initial gentle tightening and a secondary improvement a few months later when the threads are replaced by collagen strands. One of the brands we use at our Sydney clinic is the “Vlift” brand of threads.

What can a PDO threadlift achieve for patients?

PDO floating threads tighten and improve the skin quality.

What patients are suitable and will benefit from this procedure?

Anyone. It can be done as a treatment for a suitably volumised patient who needs tightening or or skin improvement, or as a preventive procedure to prevent the face from sagging.

How long does the procedure take?

This will depend on the number of threads.
Typically a full face of threads requires about 30-45 m

Is the procedure painful?

Pain is minimal and it can become virtually pain free if a topical anaesthetic cream is applied 1 hour before the procedure.

What areas of the face neck and body are these threads suitable for?

  • Mid face
  • Forehead
  • Lower face and jawline
  • Neck
  • Inner thigh
  • Buttocks
  • Inner arm
  • Abdomen
  • Knees

What are the risks associated with this procedure?

Bruising and swelling are the most common

What is the downtime associated with this procedure?

Swelling for 48 hours

Bruising if it occurs, not in everyone- 7 days

What is the price of the threadlift procedure?

See our pricing for threadlifts

How long will the procedure last? Or a much better question is “when will patients want their next threadlift after their first threadlift”?
It lasts for 6-24 months. That is the same with both types of threads
Because the PDO’s are versatile, in a small number, say 10-100 they can be topped up anytime.
Unlike the PLLA threads, The PDO’s are not anchored. They are called floating threads and their tightening effect is due to the small pull from each individual thread.?

What do you like about the procedure?
I like the idea of creating a tightening of the face through a lot of small threads, which will leave a lot of new collagen behind and achieve a natural look.

What is the satisfaction rate of Mono threads?
They are addictive! After the initial full thread lift, the top ups every 6-12 months, will become part of the face maintenance of the modern woman.
