Asian skin is often affected by multiple types of pigmentation and skin issues:
- Freckles
- Flat moles
- Raised moles
- Melasma
- Redness and rosacea which can be seen as the redness adjacent to the nose corners.
We used different modalities to treat the different types of issues. I will share this case below of a 20 something Asian girl who presented with multiple skin issues for improvement.
The Skin Wish List
This patient had multiple issues and we had to create a treatment plan to address them all.
She needed the following treatments:
- Freckle removal
- Mole removal
- Background pigmentation removal
- Some rosacea related redness improvement
- Sun damage
- General skin quality improvement
What we did for this patient
We cut out some lesions, we did 3 treatments of BBL (a type of IPL). We performed erbium laser to 15 single spots and we performed multiple sessions of Qswitch laser. She was also prescribed doctor-only skin care and lightening agents. We recommended this as treatment for the background pigment, but also to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation post laser
When the patient first came to our clinic, we were very open with her that her treatment path would be slow and steady and that she would have to be patient and motivated. We could not be too aggressive and risk pigmentation. We just had to address each of the areas with the most suitable device and follow the step-wise process.
Here are her before and after images for treatment of her freckles, moles, pigmentation and skin quality. We are very pleased with the results
