Forehead Filler

The forehead is very important aesthetically as it occupies 1/3 of our face.

It is often neglected area as most people don’t realise its natural aging course and how important it is aesthetically.

What are forehead fillers for?

Forehead fillers are used to fill forehead concavity or increase projection to create a better shape, or to fill any depressions that appear with age.

Most of us develop forehead volume loss as a sign of aging. Typically the area above the eyebrows centrally hollows out. Some of us can be born with a relatively flat forehead.

The Asian Forehead

Typically Asian patients naturally have a more flat forehead, giving their face a less projected appearance.

Sometimes it is a concave appearance.

By volumising the forehead, it gives it a more 3d appearance.

Forehead aging

There are bones and fat pads in the forehead which also undergoe volume loss due to aging like the rest of the face, which gives the forehead a more hollow appearance. As a results the muscles of forehead lose support, hypercontract and forms wrinkles. By replacing the  volume lost with fillers, it offers better support to the muscles.

What are the risks involved?

Forehead is a special area with rich vascular supplies and nerves. It is a high risk area for vascular occlusions, blindness and cerebrovascular accidents. However, there are many strategies and techniques that we put in place to minimise the risks. Only advanced and experienced injectors are recommended to perform forehead fillers.

What are common side effects of forehead fillers?

Like most filler procedures, bruising and swelling. Which can be managed.

Avoid pressure over the area injected to help fillers to set.

Try to sleep facing up also helps.

How many mls do I need?

It depends on the shape of your forehead and what results we are trying to achieve. In Asian patients, sometimes we put in multiple mls to create a more prominent and 3D profile.

Is there any difference between treating female and male patients forehead fillers?

Forehead hollowing becomes worse as we age, and gives us a more masculine look.

Female foreheads have a more rounded curve which gives a more youthful and feminine look.

Males also lose volume in their forehead but the aim here is to fill the depression and not to overcorrect it and still maintain a masculine look if that is what is requested.
